LIBRARY INSTRUCTION & USE
Our library is designated as one of the specialist rotations in our building. As the librarian, I deliver 40-minute sessions of instruction to 23 classes per week. I work closely with each grade level team to deliver language arts and technology instruction that meets the common core standards for our students.
Mary Abbott, our library assistant, is an invaluable resource. Mary oversees our circulation desk, and is a real live Google for locating resources. Together, we oversee approximately 25 student library assistants, Our library media center is built around more than 11,000 volumes aligned to our district curriculum. Thanks to our generous district voters, our technology also includes wireless computer carts, which provide one-to-one computers for all of our students in grades 3-6, as well as a computer lab for students in grades k-2.
